The Androids' CLOSET

This site gives you all the information you need for contacting your professor and his amazing cohort of GTAs; it also has OFFICE HOUR info and biographies of the amazing GTAs leading this class as well as your cyborg-fetishizing professor...
Zachary Cavanaugh
Zachary's office hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 2pm in Arts and Letters 220; you can get ahold of his cyborg other-self here: zcavanaugh AT gmail DOT com

A California transplant originally from Michigan, Zachary Cavanaugh earned is B.A. in 2006 at UC Santa Cruz, studying the classics, religious literatures, and Middle Egyptian hieroglyphs. He is currently a second year M.A. student in the English program at SDSU with an emphasis on Rhetoric & Writing Studies. When not in class or buried up to his neck in library books trying to develop a thesis on the writings of California’s colonization, you can find him drinking too much espresso, getting lost in the labyrinths of Borges, pretending to be a drummer, aimlessly wandering the great outdoors, or daydreaming about our inevitable cyborg future—sometimes all at once. Android Cavanaugh is in charge of The ***holes 220.6 and The Decepticons, 220.10

Ryan Forsythe
Ryan's office hours are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-2pm in Arts and Letters 237; you can reach Ryan, or his robotic alter-ego here: ryanforsythe AT yahoo DOT com

Ryan Forsythe was born in the Ohio of his parents and now lives in the California of his children.  In between, he traveled a lot (40 or so countries, even had a travel column for a newspaper) and spent a lot of time in school (having studied at Ohio State, Indiana University, Humboldt State, and now SDSU, he may be the world's first Aztec Buckeye Hoosier Lumberjack).  In 1987, his favorite show was Max Headroom, though he hasn't seen it since so don't ask him for any details about it.  In 1995, he tried out to be Brutus Buckeye, hoping to add a second mascot to the family (his brother was Otto the Orange at Syracuse), but he was robbed (and didn't get the job).  Once during an interview he was asked for a weakness he's been working on. Knowing he had 2 or 3 minutes to respond, Ryan answered, "Sometimes, I'm long-winded." He has been told he looks like Robin Williams, Axl Rose, and Todd Palin, though he's not sure if any of those were compliments.  If you'd like to see his slugdalas (banana slug mandalas, of course) or read some of the stuff he used to write (so far no one is publishing the stuff he writes today), visit ryanforsythe.com. Android Forsythe runs both Bender 220.5 and UDY UDY UDY 220.9

Rebecca Howat
Rebecca's office hours are
9ish to 9:45 MW and 12:30 to 2pm MW or by appointment; you can reach her via email here: rhershberger AT mail DOT sdsu DOT edu

Rebecca is an incorrigible roustabout who gave up an illustrious career as a longshoreman and bear wrestler in order pursue her love of literature.  A second year MA specializing in Children's literature whose literary tastes run the gamut from Mencken to Willingham, Rebecca's research interests include the presentation of female identity in children's and adolescent literatures, narrative theory, and eco-criticism.  In her spare time, Rebecca continues her nerdy behaviors of reading and researching while trying to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. Android Howat runs both Paralysis by Analysis Engl 220.4 and Da' Ill-literate$ Engl 220.8.

William Nericcio
Bill's office hours are on Mondays from 1 to 4pm in Arts and Letters 273; you can reach him at memo@sdsu.edu

William Nericcio directs the MALAS program at SDSU. If at all interested--if, for instance, you are waiting for paint to dry)--you can read all about your robot-obsessed (or is it possessed!?) professor here.

Tara Stillions Whitehead
Tara's office hours are in Arts and Letters 237 on Mondays from 9-10am and Wednesdays from 12-1pm; you can reach her at tara.stillions AT gmail DOT com

Tara Amber Stillions Whitehead is a revolving fourth wall in several parallel lives that can easily be explained to you on Wikipedia's Many Worlds Theory of Quantum Mechanics page...really, though, all of this fracturing into alternate existences began when she spoke her first word, "No."

After her psychic blur of a childhood, which traced the entire California Pacific coastline, Tara ended up at the University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television. There, she burned hundreds of feet of celluloid and went thousands of dollars into student loan debt. She would go on to pursue a four year whirlwind career in television and film production that landed her in the Director's Guild of America and into the prestigious writing rooms of such shows as The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men.

As it often goes for creative tyros with little patience for sensational, personal catharsis, Tara quit her job in showbiz, met her hypercompassionate, uber intelligent soul mate, and moved to his corn-fielded Pennsylvania home and spent a year quietly writing fiction and falling in love. Now a second year creative writing MFA at San Diego State University, Tara hopes to enter into a Ph.D. program in Fall 2012. Then again, with all of those parallel existences, anything could happen. Cyborg-unit TS_Whitehead is in charge of
220.3, the Luddites and 220.7, the Anti-(bot)ies.
