HOW TO CREATE YOUR SNAP: As part of the “Naked EYES/I & Psychedelic Mirrors” theme for this joint course, students are asked to explore how psychedelic/psychological ideas we have run across in texts and class discussion, appear to you in your day to day life as a student living in San Diego.

Using the Snapchat application, create a 30-45 second sequence (no more) of still or moving images that depict your with encounter with these class-related phenomena--this can be posters, street art, campus events, parties, anything. When creating these Snapchat sequences, you should juxtapose images, sounds, and texts from class materials with selected elements taken from daily life.

Be sure to make use of the creative tools in the application (including filters, captions, pencil/drawing, emojis/stickers, and “face filters”) in order to express the principle of distortion; a central theme of psychedelic culture. Feel free to be inventive in your interpretation of perceptual distortion (as it applies to text, image, and sound).

GET IN THE SPIRIT WITH OUR HASHTAG! For students who are eager to share their creation on other social media platforms aside from just the Facebook Event page, please feel free to use our trippy hashtag, #psychmirrorssnapchat.
