From time to time this semester, we will give
our seminar meeting a miss on campus--this is to
free up time for you to have an "out of body"
experience, in other words, an aesthetic experience
that directly relates to the required course materials
for our special experimental version of English 525,
I/Eye Pledge Allegiance.

How does it work?

During the semester we will have many organized,
pre-announced outings.  You are responsible to attend
at least TWO (2) of these--you make the call!  You
are free to attend any or all of them over and above
the stated requirement.

After you attend these events, send me a 250 word,
one-page piece on this experience--try to be as
critical/analytical/focused as you can be (even clever
and brilliant if you can) and try to conjoin something
of what you have witnessed/experienced to the
ongoing and evolving interests of our seminar. While
it is preferred that you post these writings on our
class Facebook page, you can also just send them
to me via email with the words OUT OF BODY in the
subject line, or, Old Gangster, print out your
brief essay and hand it to me in class!

So far there are now 7 sanctioned events:

2. SHEREE ROSE (on campus & FREE)
3. THE MOUNTAINTOP
4. FOR MY PEOPLE (may be free, NOT SURE... this Sunday @ 4pm)...
5. ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST (slightly cheaper tickets)
6. FEDERAL JAZZ PROJECT (slightly cheaper tickets)
7. MEXTASY @ GROSSMONT (off campus, but FREE!)
8. ON Campus, Free!

9. On campus, Free!
